Dr. Schmutterer studied veterinary medicine at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and received his doctorate in 2023 with an experimental thesis on the biomechanics of the canine stifle joint. Since 2024, he has been both a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons and a certified national specialist in small animal surgery.

His clinical focus lies in orthopedic and trauma surgery, complemented by minimally invasive therapeutic procedures. He also has expertise in gastrointestinal surgery as well as in the surgical management of hepatological and endocrinological diseases. Soft tissue surgery forms an additional part of his operative spectrum.

Dr. Schmutterer’s scientific focus is on orthopedics and the biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system.
