Tim Bentley

Professor Bentley graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2005. He then completed a small animal internship at the Royal Veterinary College, University of London, UK. After this, he was a neurology & neurosurgery resident at Tufts University, MA, USA, during 2006 – 2009. He became board-certified in neurology by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2009. He was also awarded the Neurosurgery Certificate of Training in 2012. After graduating from Tufts, Professor Bentley rose through the ranks at Purdue University, IN, USA, being promoted to full professor in 2022. In 2023, he moved back to his home country, and began as a Professor of Veterinary Neurology & Neurosurgery at the University of Liverpool, UK.

Professor Bentley’s research has focused on brain surgery, especially canine glioma as a model of human glioblastoma. He has also received many grants for his hydrocephalus surgery research. He has received over $8 million USD in research funding, has published 50 peer-reviewed articles, and has written 2 book chapters. He has spoken at conferences in the USA, UK, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brazil and Japan. His clinical interests are brain surgery (glioma, meningioma, hydrocephalus), spinal tumor surgery, and neuro-oncology in general.
