Bruno is originally from Portugal and graduated from the ICBAS – University of Porto in 2013. Following graduation, he worked in a busy 24-hour veterinary hospital in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto, for four years, before moving to the UK in June 2017. During this time, he developed his passion for small animal neurology, and attended several courses on the subject, before completing the General Practitioner certificate in Neurology.

Bruno completed a Neurology internship, in 2018, and an ECVN-approved Residency in Neurology and Neurosurgery at Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists, Hampshire, before moving to Southfields Veterinary Specialists to continue his Neurology journey. Bruno was awarded his ECVN diploma in 2024.

Bruno enjoys all fields of veterinary neurology; however his research focus is on genetics of intervertebral disc disease, which is the subject of his part-time PhD with the University of Cambridge
