Kira Mclean-ash
BSc (Hons) RVN, Dip FN, CertVN ECC
I graduated from UWE (Hartpury) in Gloucestershire in 2015. As a student nurse I was working in a mixed practice with some exciting exotic cases before moving to referral in the south of England shortly after qualifying. I spent 8 years as a rotating nurse in a referral hospital, working through all areas including theatre, diagnostics and wards. During this time I completed a variety of referral nursing certificates, as well as the ISFM feline certificate and diploma. Since 2018 I have been a locum ECC nurse in my spare time, which lead to my current role as an out of hours emergency night nurse as an ECC nurse, which I have been doing as a permanent role for two years. I completed the VetsNow Emergency nursing certificate and continue enjoying working as an RVN, whilst still providing locum services for referral hospitals to maintain my standards and skill. I continue to locum in my spare time as I am a workaholic and I am always searching to increase my knowledge. In my ten years since qualifying I have been a supervisor, a manager, a clinical coach and an ongoing student in whichever subject peaks my interest!
I have always been passionate about learning, and passing knowledge onto others. As a a clinical coach I have had several successful new RVNs join the profession, provided inhouse CPD, and I have an ongoing great passion for education in the ever-adapting world of Veterinary medicine. I have no plans to specialise, and want to continue growing and expanding my skills as an adaptable all- disciplines covered RVN.
