Luis Mesquita graduated from the University of Porto (Portugal) in 2008 and began his career as a General Practitioner in Braga, where he developed a strong interest in diagnostic imaging. In 2010, he was awarded a Leonardo da Vinci Scholarship by the University of Porto, which enabled him to move to the United Kingdom to undertake an internship in Diagnostic Imaging at the University of Liverpool Small Animal Teaching Hospital.

Following the internship, Luis remained at the University of Liverpool to do a ECVDI Residency in Diagnostic Imaging. Upon completion of his residency, he was appointed Lecturer in Small Animal Diagnostic Imaging in 2016.

In 2017, Luis joined the Diagnostic Imaging team at Willows Veterinary Centre and became a European Diplomate in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging in 2018, achieving European Specialist status.

In 2022, Luis returned to Portugal, and he is currently based at AniCura CHV Porto. He also continues to work as a remote consultant radiologist for Willows Veterinary Centre and VetOracle Teleradiology.
